The Foothills Children’s Wellness Network

The Foothills Children’s Wellness Network has been established to ensure access to all the local community resources devoted to giving our children the best possible start in life. This new network is about co-ordinating our existing services and making help available everywhere it’s needed, so that we can all raise happy, healthy children.

Sheep River Health Trust

The Sheep River Health Trust is dedicated to supporting the provision of comprehensive health services in the Foothills area. The Health Trust aims to promote health and well being throughout our local communities by working in partnership with the residents of the area. The SRHT is a registered charitable organization which raises funds to support health services and wellness programs for the residents of Longview, Black Diamond, Turner Valley, Millarville, DeWinton, Okotoks, and the surrounding rural area.

Journey’s Family Development Program

The Journey’s Family Development Program by McMan Calgary provides support and education to families who are struggling with multiple challenges. These families have either identified a need for support or have been identified as recipients for intervention services in the communities of Willow Creek and the Municipal District of Foothills.

GRIT – Calgary Society

Every child deserves the right to achieve their full potential. Providing an early education program that is tailored to a child’s individual needs with opportunities to experience inclusion and full participation in their home, school and community creates a strong foundation to build that potential.

Wild Rose Community Connections

Wild Rose Community Connections assists families with their “First Years for Families Program” in building positive, parent-child relationships and promoting the healthy development of their young children.

Foothills Fetal Alcohol Society

The Foothills Fetal Alcohol Society is a non-profit registered charity located in High River, Alberta and serving South Central Alberta. Our mission is to enhance capacity for the prevention of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and for the provision of care and support to rural communities.

Okotoks Family Resource Centre (OFRC)

The Okotoks Family Resource Centre (OFRC) is a community-based, multi-service agency. We seek to help strengthen families and individuals and build a healthy community through improving access to social services and community resources. OFRC opened in 2000 and serves residents from Okotoks and surrounding areas including Black Diamond, Turner Valley and the Municipal District of Foothills.

Calgary Rural Primary Care Network

The Calgary Rural Primary Care Network works with family doctors to develop your Medical Home. A Medical Home is your doctor supported by Health Care Members helping to provide a continuum of comprehensive care based on best practices in medicine. Connecting you to the specialists you need, supporting long-term relationships with your medical champions and helping you take your healthy future into your own hands. It’s about building healthy communities.

Alberta Children’s Hospital

At Alberta Children’s Hospital, children, youth, families, staff and physicians partner together to provide the utmost in excellent care. We treat each other with respect, listen to one another, share ideas and information, ask and answer questions, create a safe environment for interaction, and make decisions together.

Make-A-Wish^® Southern Alberta

The mission of Make-A-Wish^® Southern Alberta is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Along with the national office, eight regional chapters grant magical wishes to children in need from coast-to-coast. Make-A-Wish Canada is an affiliate of Make-A-Wish^® International, the largest wish-granting organization in the world, making dreams and wishes come true for more than 350,000 children since 1980.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area is a donor-supported, volunteer-driven organization founded on mentoring as a proven strategy for ensuring resiliency, future orientation and social support for children and youth. Each time we match a young person with a mentor, we start something incredible – a life-changing relationship built on friendship, trust and empowerment.

Inclusion Foothills

Inclusion Foothills provides support, education, and information to families who are living with or are connected to someone with special needs, in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Inclusion Foothills works with families and communities to connect them to the right resources.

Greater Foothills Family Centre- A Family Resource Network

Strengthening Families, Building Resiliency and Fostering Well-Being. FREE programs, services and supports for children, youth 0-18 and their families. Our Family Centre, part of the Greater Foothills Family Resource Network provides information, referrals and programs on parenting, child development, and family support.

Okotoks Foodbank

We provide non-perishable food items, frozen meat and vegetables, as well as fresh produce, eggs, margarine and milk cards. We’re a registered charity under the Societies Act and provide tax receipts to donors. We receive support of food and monetary donations from Food Drives, Fundraisers and donations from individuals and businesses.

Okotoks Library

The Okotoks Public Library has been a fixture of the Okotoks community since 1977! We’ve come a long way from the tiny little room on main street, first moving to our current location in 1990 and then expanding (to almost double the size!) in 2005. We are a member of the Marigold Library System and a part of the resource sharing mechanism of TRAC which is Alberta wide. We are proud to serve the Town of Okotoks and the surrounding MD of Foothills.

Sheep River Library

Sheep River Library is located at 129 Main Street in Turner Valley, Alberta. We offer the following services to families: Easy Readers, Board Books, Picture Books, Stories-in-a-Bag, Book Kits (CD and cassette), Magazines, Videos, Books for Young Adults, Story Time and Craft Programs for Preschoolers, Summer Reading Program

High River Library

Pre-School Programs: Story Time at the Library, Preschool Movie Time, Preschool Story Time, Rhythm and Rhyme, Movers and Shakers, Toddler Time, Parent-Child Early Readiness Program.
