FAQ

How can I get an appointment?

Appointments are by referral only, usually by your family physician.

How long will my appointment be?

Initial appointments will be up to one hour long and follow up appointments will be about 30 minutes.

Why do I need a new referral if I have seen the Paediatrician before?

We are a specialty clinic, we do not provide primary or urgent care. If we haven’t seen your child in one year, a new referral is needed.

Why can’t I see the Paediatrician for all my child’s needs?

In Alberta, unlike in other provinces and countries, the family doctor is your primary care provider. We provide specialized paediatric care only.

Why do you need at least 24 hours cancellation notice?

We are a busy office and need time to book other patients into unfilled spots; currently wait times can be up to three months – We need to use available time-slots as efficiently as possible. You will be charged a fee for missed appointments.

What are some of the “uninsured services” I will be charged for?

Alberta Health Services covers only your child’s appointment. Other services are “uninsured services”, you will be charged for:

  • Missed appointments
  • Forms
  • Letters of diagnosis
  • Requests from third parties (School, CRA)
  • Camp forms
  • Prescription re-fills
  • Phone calls

These services are not covered by Alberta Health Services. We take cash or e-transfer for payment and most fees are pre-payment for service.

Your appointment will not be re-booked if you have an outstanding payment.
